This 4 days Bali to Ijen Crater, Kalibaru plantation and Mount Bromo tour is one of the most popular East Java travel packages. The trip starts from Bali and includes the famous Ijen blue fire experience, a relaxing plantation tour in Kalibaru, and the spectacular sunrise at Mount Bromo. The tour finishes in Surabaya or Malang, making it a perfect overland journey from Bali to East Java.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 – Transfer from Bali to Ijen Crater Area

Our staff will pick you up either at the airport or your hotel in Bali (please inform us your flight details or hotel information). We will start the trip to Gilimanuk ferry port at the western tip of Bali, which takes about 3–5 hours depending on traffic conditions, using a private air-conditioned vehicle.

Upon arrival at Gilimanuk ferry port, we will cross the Bali Strait by ferry for approximately 1–1.5 hours to Ketapang ferry port in Banyuwangi, East Java. During the drive in Bali, you will pass small towns, plantations, rice fields, beaches, and rural landscapes.

After arriving at Ketapang port, we will escort you directly to your hotel in the Ijen area. You will stay overnight in Banyuwangi before starting the midnight hike to Ijen Crater.

Optional Tour: Snorkeling at Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park (additional cost).

Day 02 – Ijen Crater Tour and Transfer to Kalibaru

• 00:30 – 01:00 > Pick up from your hotel and drive about 1 hour to Paltuding, the starting point of the Ijen hike.
• 02:00 – 06:00 > Hiking to the top of Ijen Crater. If permitted by authorities, descend to the crater rim to witness the famous blue fire phenomenon. Afterward, enjoy sunrise and views of the turquoise sulfur lake.
• 06:00 – 10:00 > Return to Paltuding, then transfer back to your hotel for breakfast, shower, and preparation for departure.
• 11:00 – 13:00 > Continue the journey to Kalibaru highland (about 1.5–2 hours). Upon arrival, check in at Margoutomo Cottage or similar hotel surrounded by plantation scenery.

Note: If weather conditions do not allow night hiking, the tour will start at 03:00 AM without visiting the blue fire. Optional Tours:

Day 03 – Kalibaru Plantation Tour and Transfer to Bromo

After breakfast at the hotel, around 08:00 AM enjoy a plantation tour in Kalibaru. You will walk through approximately 9 hectares of plantation featuring nutmeg, pepper, cinnamon, cocoa, coffee, cloves, and coconut. You will also see traditional palm sugar processing and visit a dairy farm. This tour lasts about 1–1.5 hours.

Around 10:00 AM, continue the trip to Mount Bromo area (5–7 hours drive). Upon arrival, check in at Lava View Lodge, Java Banana Hotel, or similar accommodation with mountain views.

Day 04 – Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour and Drop Off

• 03:00 AM > Wake up early and take a 4WD jeep to the sunrise viewpoint in the Tengger region.

Enjoy sunrise views overlooking Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru. Popular viewpoints include:

• Love Hill
• Pananjakan
• King Kong Hill

After sunrise, continue to the sea of sand and hike or ride a horse (optional) to reach Mount Bromo crater. Climb approximately 250 stairs to the crater rim.

Return to hotel for breakfast, shower, and check-out. Then transfer to Surabaya or Malang (3–5 hours drive). Tour finished.
